Dit droeve nieuws bereikte me gisterenavond:

Dear Friends -

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of our esteemed colleague Josh Raynolds.

Josh joined Vinous in 2014 from the International Wine Cellar, where he worked with Stephen Tanzer for many years. He was an integral part of our team for nearly a decade. Josh’s knowledge of wine had no limits. Over the years, he published articles on wines from a wide range of regions, including the Rhône, Beaujolais, Spain, Oregon, California, Australia, Chile and Champagne, as well as his eagerly awaited annual Rosé buyers’ guide.

Josh was a frequent speaker at events and conferences, offering straight-shooting insight born of deep experience. Over the years and decades, Josh built long-lasting relationships with winemakers and members of the trade based on mutual respect. His contributions to the world of wine will continue to be enjoyed by many for years to come. More than anything else, we will miss Josh’s inimitable wit, sense of humor and encyclopedic cultural references. We will miss his passion for food and wine, and his ability to remind us that what we spend our time analyzing is meant to be fun.

All of us at Vinous extend our deepest condolences to his wife Merrie Louise, daughters Frances, Barbara Ann and their extended family.

The Raynolds family has created a Facebook Group Josh Raynolds Updates, for those of you who wish to pay your respects to Josh and his family. They invite you to upload photos and videos of Josh and share memories. The family will share funeral arrangements and other details on the Facebook page shortly.

May the earth be light on you, Josh.
